Scout

As far as an update, He weighs 57 pounds. He has been trained at Tioga Retrievers for 5 months and will likely spend another month there doing more blind work and polishing up his marking.  We have been bringing him home most weekends and training w/ him on Saturdays.  We decided not to run him in hunt tests given the time and financial commitment.  He has already had two weekends of dove hunting, and he did very well for a young dog on his first hunts.  His weaknesses: short attention span (but no surprise there for a young male lab), he has to put everything in his mouth that will fit and is lying on the ground, not the best at locating sounds, especially at a distance.  Strengths: athletic, incredible swimmer, consistently enthusiastic (the trainer told me last week that Scout has never had a bad day as far as moods and effort are concerned), he wants desperately to please, and he has a funny little personality that makes him a blast to have around the house.
